We're not saying it's a crime.
We're just saying you should see the receipt.
True Cruise Cost is the first investigation in a network of consumer-pricing exposés. We dig into industries that bury fees behind opaque pricing, then we publish the math in plain English. One brand. Many verticals. Same job.
Why this, and why now
Every consumer industry has converged on the same playbook: advertise a low headline price, then make the real total impossible to calculate until after you've already signed.
Cruise lines do it with gratuity stacks, drink package fine print, and per-device WiFi. Daycares do it with registration fees, supply fees, and "enrichment" surcharges. Funeral homes do it with caskets that range from $700 to $7,000 sitting in the same showroom. Wedding venues do it with mandatory in-house catering at 3x market rate.
The pattern is consistent. The defense is consistent: before you sign, see the real number.
How we operate
We're not journalists in the traditional sense. We don't break news. We don't run sources. What we do is build calculators — interactive tools that let you input your specific situation and watch the real cost reveal itself, line by line.
Then we publish the methodology so you can verify the math yourself.
We don't sell cruises. We don't sell daycare placements. We don't sell wedding venues. The properties in this network earn through three channels: affiliate commissions on services we'd recommend regardless (travel insurance, eSIMs), display advertising, and small one-time premium tools for people who want deeper analysis. Every recommendation is disclosed. Every link is labeled.
What you'll never see from us
No sponsored "best of" lists where the rankings correlate with who paid. No fake urgency timers. No popups asking if you're sure you want to leave. No newsletters that pretend to be friendly while harvesting you for re-sale to data brokers.
If you're on our list, it's because you signed up to see the math. We email when we have new math. The unsubscribe link is in every email and it works on the first click.
The team
True Cruise Cost is operated under 247X, a small portfolio company that builds and runs niche tools across home services, software, and consumer research. We're deliberately small. We don't take outside investment. The only people we report to are the readers using the calculators.
If something on the site is wrong — a fee schedule that's outdated, a methodology you'd dispute, a recommendation that doesn't hold up — email us. We update fast and we credit corrections publicly.
More investigations coming.
Each property in the network applies the same investigative methodology to a different category. Live now: cruises. In planning: childcare, weddings, veterinary care, funeral services.
